{FREE RECIPE} The Skin Saviour Smoothie

Today my gorgeous glow getters, I thought I would mix it up a bit. We all know how amazing we feel when we have green smoothies, juices and eat well right? So, I enlisted the help of the utterly amazing Sarah from The Seasonal Diet to whip up a smoothie that will love your body and nourish your skin. Her and her husband want to help women to feel their best, love their bodies and educate them on how to nourish it properly. So without further ado, the fabulous Sarah Hagstrom…

Sarah and Peter Bio

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sarah, and I run The Seasonal Diet with my lovely husband Peter, where we help women gain energy and beat pesky stomach problems by eating organic foods that are in season.

Like you, I’m also a big fan of The Glow Getter, and Ailish was kind enough to let me come over today and share one of my favorite get glowing smoothie recipes.

It’s called The Skin Saviour Smoothie and all of the ingredients work together to provide your body with the nutrients it needs on the inside to help it look its best on the outside.

When people find out I never wear makeup, and haven’t for over 5 years, they always respond with “I could never do that!”

I totally understand that, as I used to think the same thing.

I was the girl who wore makeup to go to the mailbox, pick up a movie or even when joining a friend to go get gas. I felt like my skin was too pale, uneven, and just didn’t look right without at least a little foundation and some bronzer.

During that time, I also struggled with really bad stomach pains. So bad I couldn’t sit through classes during college. After visiting doctor after doctor, I was left to figure it out on my own. After a little trial and error, I eventually discovered a plant-based, gluten-free diet, and my stomach pains gradually went away.

As I started to include more plant-based foods into my diet (and raw foods especially), my skin cleared up, and as cliché as it sounds, it really started glowing. I didn’t notice at first, but my co-workers would comment on it, asking what I was doing.  I started feeling more confident, so I decided to go one day a week without makeup, then two days and then no makeup all together. Don’t get me wrong, I think makeup is a fun way to express yourself and dress up. If you go the natural route that’s even better! However, if you’re interested in clearing up your skin, evening out the tone, or just getting that glow, then the ingredients in this smoothie are really going to help, and I hope you’ll give it a try.

First let me tell you about the ingredients…

Tropical Fruit- These contain high levels of vitamin C, which will help your skin fight off free radicals, provide antioxidants, and help your body produce collagen – a protein that helps keep skin firm, glowing and elastic.

Kale- One of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet, kale is full of the fiber and minerals your body needs to stay healthy, but to also detox all of the chemicals you accumulate in your day-to-day life. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, so it’s going to keep your skin (and body in general) from being bloated and looking puffy.

Hemp Seeds Contain the omegas and amino acids your body needs and cannot produce on its own. They are also full of vitamins and minerals your skin needs to avoid dry, flaky red skin.

Coconut- Another great source of fiber and potassium, coconut is a great ingredient to add to really hydrate and moisturize your skin.

Cacao- This superfood contains the most antioxidants than any other food that is reason enough to eat it, but when it comes to your skin cacao can really improve the texture of your skin due to the increase of circulation and oxygen it provides.

Now the recipe…

Sarah, I came here to check out your smoothie, but reading a bit about you I’m blown away by how similar our experience and journey so far is — both on the make up bit and the journey to resolve stomach issues. ♥️
