Dear 2016…

Dear 2016…

Dear 2016,

You were an interesting one. Filled with change. A lot. of. change.

Don’t get me wrong, I love change. But here’s a quick low down in case you missed what happened.

I moved to New Zealand. Mainly because my boyfriend wanted to go back home, so I thought I would give it a go. It was, and is fun. But very different. In good and bad ways.

I had three different contracting jobs. I didn’t realise how much energy this would take up. Making new friends. Adjusting to a new office. Learning new ways of working. It was exhausting to say the least.

James bought a house and we starting renovating it to live in. He bought it at auction and it’s by far the most stressful experience I’ve ever gone through. Renovating is fun to.

I did the Glow Summit. It was a series of video interviews with some key green beauty and wellness people across the globe and whilst I’m SO glad I did it, it burned any last bits of energy I had out for the blog. And for the rest of 2016 I didn’t really do that much on the blog.

I had to make new friends. That’s a tad more difficult when you’re 33 and most of the people your age have settled down and are or have had babies. Luckily, Wellington is an incredibly friendly place and I’ve made a handful of friends who I think are fabulous.

I experienced the third largest earthquake that New Zealand has ever had. On our second night in the new house. Then had a tsunami warning where we had to evacuate. That was interesting to say the least. And the offices I worked in couldn’t be reopened so we had to move.

And then I travelled back to the UK for Christmas. It was amazing to see family and friends again and filled me full of energy again (and they filled me with champagne). And now I sit in Muriels’ Kitchen in London, waiting to meet up with some PR companies that I can only be grateful for as I’ve not grown as much as I wanted with the blog, and it’s not been my best work for a while, but that will change.

I wanted to thank you 2016, for a year of tremendous change, growth and making me appreciate what I have in New Zealand and in the UK. But 2017, I’m ready for you. My blog will actually be what it’s meant to be like this year. My goals have started off well, and I intend to keep them. I hope that I won’t let you (or myself) down this year. We both deserve more. So let’s get to it.
